Meet Your Inspector

TruGEM’s | Ed Suarez

Florida Licensed Home Inspector | ICC Certified | OSHA 30

My career in the built environment has grown far beyond traditional home inspections. Through TruGEM Inspections, I have evaluated residential properties, new construction, and homes requiring insurance inspections. Professionally, my experience has expanded into commercial properties, public facilities, and facility condition assessments evaluating buildings and their systems to understand their present condition, deficiencies, maintenance needs, and long-term capital requirements. That experience has changed the way I inspect.

I don’t simply look for what’s wrong. I want to understand why a condition exists, how the building was constructed, how its systems interact, how they’re aging, and what those conditions could mean for the person responsible for the property. My experience includes evaluating roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, exterior and interior building components, identifying deficiencies, documenting existing conditions, supporting maintenance and capital planning, inspecting new construction, indoor environmental sampling, and aerial property documentation.

But I’m still a student of buildings. From a single-family home in South Florida to a large commercial facility or a structure that’s been standing for centuries, every building presents another opportunity to learn. That’s what I bring back to every TruGEM inspection. More than a checklist, a deeper understanding of the property you’re investing in.

Hands-on experience in construction and building maintenance. Providing a practical understanding of how homes are built, how systems are installed, and how they deteriorate over time.

FEMA Inspector Hurricane Ida Disaster Response

Deployed as a contracted FEMA Inspector during Hurricane Ida disaster relief operations across New York and New Jersey conducting rapid property damage assessments to help affected homeowners access federal disaster assistance. This experience provided firsthand exposure to storm-related structural damage, flood impacts, and the full range of destruction that severe weather events inflict on residential properties.

Capital Planning & Deferred Maintenance

Experience supporting capital planning and deferred maintenance programs for residential and commercial properties. Identifying aging systems, estimating remaining useful life, and prioritizing repair and replacement needs. This background helps clients understand not just the current condition of a property, but the long-term cost implications of what they're buying or maintaining.

The Name

Why the Name TruGEM?

TruGEM is named after the people who matter most Gabrielle (my wife), Ed (me), and Mia (our daughter). It's a family name, and it carries the weight of everything we stand for.

But the name goes deeper than that. A gem is precious and valuable just like your home, and just like our commitment to this industry. That's exactly where a great inspection should come from: a place of genuine care, not just a transaction.

When you hire TruGEM, you're not getting a rushed walkthrough. You're getting a careful, experienced evaluation from someone who built this business around family, and who treats every client's home with that same level of respect.
